Homerefers to any abode where any individual is comfortable in it. Thefactors that make up a home include shelter, family, and basic needs.A comfortable place where one can find peace, love also harmony canbe considered a home. A home has an implication of a being a home ifone is able to find happiness in it. Many activities that a personengage in may bring happiness within the home surrounding henceresulting to self-gratification. A home is where one felt at ease andrelieved from emotional stress. Research indicates that people desirefor a special shelter is not considered a luxury but a biologicalwant. As such, monkeys often seek for a secure place where they canrespite. When monkeys find a comfortable place they have theirhormones lowered hence having their stress reduced. As a matter ofthe fact, the monkeys experience signifies how a life of a primateincluding human being finds comfort at home.

Adlerargues that a home can be a house although a house is not a home.Such an argument implies that a home is not only a shelter but alsoseveral factors make a home (31). The most crucial factor that makesa home is a family. As such, an individual can call a shelter a homebecause of a family existing in it. The family gives an individual asense of belonging enabling one feel protected. Notably, a home iswhere one may find happiness form a family. An individual can createa home out of just a shelter. Providing comfort, peace, and harmonywithin a shelter makes a house be a home. Many individuals havefailed to make a home out of a house because of their dailyengagement hence not getting time to make comfort and stay togetherwith their family member (Adler31).

Environmentfactor determines whether an individual will have a peaceful stay athome. The most crucial factor is that an individual should relate theenvironment, which the person lives with the home one lives.Environment factor involves the people and other living thingssurrounding it. An individual should have a good relation with theenvironment. Have a good relation will promote mutual harmony amongthe people and the environment. Each individual should build ashelter within a certain geographic location where a person is ableto call it a home. A person should identify oneself with theenvironment by keeping it clean. Living within a clean environmentmakes an individual have a peaceful and a comfortable home. A studyby Dwyerexplainsthat a third of people suffer from mood and sleep problems that arerelated to unfavorable environment where one lives (105). Some of theproblems associated to unfavorable environment are caused by lack ofsufficient sunlight supply to the house, noise pollution, and lack offresh air. Any comfortable home is not a luxurious home but one thathas a clean environment with enough sunlight supply as well as freshair. Attractive backyard and a sky cape make a home a comfortableplace to stay. Most human being who relate well with theirenvironment makes a good and peaceful harmony. Noteworthy, one shouldembrace the surrounding culture in a place where a home is built topromote harmonious living. One way of marking a connection with theenvironment is through using the natural resources that are availablenext to the house. One can engage in farming to make home more thanjust it name. Adlerargued that a home is where an individual can access the many humanwants freely or at small fee. Such an argument implies that anyperson can make a home from the hard work that one engages in it(31).

Severalfactors undermine the feeling of calling a residence a home. Asstated by Paynethe cost of living is a factor that may affect many families hencecausing some to be poor (45). The families that have been rich beforethen became poor makes their children lack the feeling of callingtheir residence a home. The children who have been fond of luxury andlater lack them would feel that their home is no longer a home butjust a residence. Social issues such as family disputes includingseparation and divorce make a home lack its sense as a home. A familythat falls apart is not a home thus without peace in a family, a homelacks its implication of a home and remain a residence or a house.Loneliness as a factor contributes to a very emotional feeling wherean individual feels neglected.

Mostfamilies especially parents remained busy with their professionmaking their children lack their attention. Lack of parental care tochildren makes them feel lonely. Lonely children fail to appreciatetheir homes as they consider it as a mere residence. Some parents wholose some of their partners to death also feel lonely ending up beingdepressed. A home that lacks either parents or one parent lacks itsmeaning of being a home because of the open gap that remainedunclosed. Conclusively, a home can maintain its significant whenharmony exists. Notably, a person should initiate harmonious livingwith the surrounding. Any residence can become a home but severalfactors should be considered. One should create a friendlyenvironment that will make a home the most peaceful place to stay.Parents should create enough time for their families to make theirhomes maintain its meaning (Dwyer105).
