Itgoes without saying that Scientific Management would increaseproductivity (Taylor, 2012).However, it is imperative that one asks at what price the efficiencyand productivity of a company is increased. The division andsimplification of tasks into simpler ones that do not necessitateexpertise would undoubtedly mean an increase in monotony. Of course,it is well acknowledged that organizations have their main aim asincreasing their productivity and profitability in both the long-termand short-term (Bagad, 2008). However, it should be noted that therewill always be workers producing more than their counterparts, inwhich case an organization would keep replacing workers. This wouldbe dehumanizing as it amount to objectification of workers ratherthan valuing their expertise and loyalty to an organization.

It is notedthat companies and business entities have the aim of maximizingoutput, in which case they have to do all that they can to ensurethis is attained. Indeed, the only link that employees have with thebusiness entity is in their enhancing their productivity and gettingpaid for it (Bagad, 2008). The loyalty of the employee to the companywould be measured by his or her capacity to offer the best servicesto the business entity, failure to which the relationship with thecompany would be null and void.


Inthis essay, it is well acknowledged that scientific management methodwould increase the efficacy and productivity of workers in a businessentity. Like all great techniques, however, scientific managementmethod is definitely lacking in some aspects particularly with regardto its deficiency of the human touch (Taylor, 2012).In essence, it should be possible to take up the particular aspectsof this technique that would increase the efficiency and productivityof the company and combine them with those of another technique thatenhance the human touch. This would, undoubtedly, result in awholesome or comprehensive technique that increases the outputwithout compromising on the morale of the workers (Bagad, 2008).However, it is worth noting that scientific management incorporates anumber of steps or components, none of which have ever been testedindividually to see their effects on productivity and morale ofemployees. In essence, it is imperative that a technique for knowingwhich component should be substituted or should remain withoutcompromising the productivity of the company is devised (Bagad,2008).
